During your first visit you will be asked to complete several forms including detailed health and dental history information. These forms are usually mailed to you or, if you prefer, you can download the forms to the right, so you may complete and bring them with you to your appointment. This information will help us to understand you and your mouth better so that the best treatment can be recommended.
Your First Visit!
What to Expect
Your initial examination will include a clinical and radiographic (x-ray) assessment of your periodontal (gum) or implant needs and concerns. A series of 20 radiographs will be taken at that first visit, unless a current full mouth set is available from your general dentist. Our office uses digital radiography, which shortens the time needed to obtain x-rays and decreases your exposure to radiation. The clinical part of the evaluation consists of evaluating and measuring various parameters, including the spaces or pockets between the tooth and gum. Our office uses the latest equipment and technology to ensure exceptional care for our patients. All non-disposable items are sterilized before their use on any patient. In addition, our staff are trained and follow current OSHA standards for infection control.

After your examination, the doctor will discuss her findings with you and provide recommendations. At times, a separate consultation may be necessary to review your diagnosis and treatment options. In addition, the doctor will review her findings with your general dentist to ensure comprehensive care.
